September Part 4

There seemed to a few wooden motorcycles around this area!

The scenery around the eastern side of France is as stunning as the Pyrenees!

Here is a bit more!

I should have been a photographer (or am I!)

Interesting (?) statue

Wow, 5 more pictures… Part 5 next!

September part 3

We Also met Iris and Peter here. We met them in Greece last year.

This statue is on the border between France and Italy just below Lake Geneva!

This is where we all parked up for tea, and the night, stunning area!

Then we had to put a new water pump on Shauns “Dudemobile” This is at Sarre just inside Italy. It rained that day too, but the awning helped us curse at the spanners in the dry!

Then we nearly ran over this dog near Val D’isere!

I am now hotspotting my phone and trying to get the photos all uploaded! only about 40 to go! Then I might run out of space on the blog too!

Part 4 soon!

September part 2

This is at Lake Geneva

Roundabout time!

And another one!

This is Shaun and has dog Scooby at lake Geneva

And yet another roundabout, what a setting for it!

It seems that getting this blog updated is once again against me. The connection is so bad at the moment I am going to post these pictures. Part 3 coming soon!

After Valence D’Agen we slowly travelled East across France to meet a Friend, Shaun, near lake Geneva. Regrettably we were unable to get decent wifi either because Worpress seemed to infringe the tourist offices’ security, or the connection time allowed was a joke (15 minutes) or we ended upi staying in areas that were just too remote.

Our route across France was: Loudes Aerodrome, Mijoux and then Thonon where we met Shuan.

This nicely painted camper came into Valence when we were leaving!

France has some amazing statues, This is near Loudes!

And some nicely painted houses too!

Here we are meeting Shaun at Thonon, near Lake Geneva.

I need to post this! Connection seems to be playing up!

17 August

We are now in Valence D’Agen where we stayed a few months ago.

We got here on Saturday to find that the whole of one side of the river had become a set for a show, which turned out to be absolutely fantastic. As usual the pictures do not do justice!

This is part of the set taken from the bridge.

Close up of the church from the seating area.

A poster about it. We got here on the last day, and regrettably they aren’t going to do it any more! Shame.

Paint job of the week just slotted in here!

The show was fantastic, sound, lasers, smoke etc.

Some of it was done on this side of the river…

It was 2 hours long.

Ending with fireworks of course!

I will post this now as I only have 30 minutes of connection time here!

15 August part 2

Here are some more pictures of the last town we stayed, Mielan, and our journey on to Lectoure…

Nice early morning inversion.

Had to have a picture of this chap!

There is quite a lot of para-gliding around here. Tempting!

In Mielan there are figures everywhere! Good effort!

All sorts of subjects! in all sorts of places!

At the Mairie there was even a wedding going on!

This was worth a picture in the church yard.

And this guy, obviously having rabbit stew tonight!

Large (wine?) Chateaux.

No post without a church! And a signpost!

This is the church at Lectoure.

There was also a massive spider in this tree!

That brings the pictures up to date!

Only other news – our solar panel stopped working. It turned out to be the charge controller. The negative terminal to the battery had a bad solder joint on the PCB, which was to big for my soldering iron. Luckily it is electrically the same terminal as the negative for the solar panel… so moving the wire to share this connection has sorted the problem (and actually it is probably electrically better!)

Today we might move on to Valence D’Agen… This is the aire with the showers!

Next post…. who knows!

15 August

The last few places we have stayed the connection time on the wifi has been limited to 15 minutes! Not enough to upload a batch of photos!

This is the square at La Bastide D’Armagnac. There seem to be a lot of Bastides in France!

They are all nice and shady on a hot day. We have had quite a few of them now.

This is Sauvagnon at night time. Nice effect with the water butt!

There are quite a few of these road side laundry points, often by garages! You  wouldn’t see many of these left in Liverpool!

Roundabout time! There were sheep with udders, but I thought the dog was more unique!

Then we passed a number of these as we snaked up the hill…

Nice footprints on this dam wall!

This is Lanuza in Spain. Lovelly area!

View of the actual town. No shops, one bar, and sweltering. Our water pump died again here. It wasn’t leaking any more but the pressure switch was in a bad way from the previous leak. We took it all apart, found the silver contact had come off the arm in the microswitch. Cleaned it all up and even managed to solder it back on! It is now working brilliantly!

And here we are, what a lovely setting!

Today (7 August) It is Andrea’s birthday, so we had sausage curry as a special treat! That was the only meat we had, but it was good. We used one of those packs of Balti sauce from Home Bargains!

I wandered up the hill to take this picture of where we were parked. The Pyrenees is a lovely place to tour.

We then moved onto Arrens Marsous…

To help the fridge along with the heat some kind person had dumped a computer near where we parked, so we now have an extractor fan to help get the hotair out from the top grill. Just making the temperature switch for it now….

We are presently in Lectoure, and the wifi is not bad, So I will probably empty the camera and post the next batch!

Last night they had a festival which appeared to celebrate the melon! Music went on until after 2 this morning!

Next post… In a bit hopefully!
